July 15, 2009just launched: www.Flipnotics.com

flipnoticscom

Flipnotics Coffeespace Cafe is well known as a funky, little coffeeshop in the heart of South Austin. The new owners (Paul Long and Vanessa McNamara-Long) have added a beautiful new deck that is nestled in the trees, installed a working AC!, applied a fresh coat of paint and brought Flipnotics back to life. All of this to save their neighborhood coffeeshop. Flipnotics is about good coffee with a local flavor, free wifi, community and LIVE music. The new website will keep customers up-to-date on nightly shows and connected through various social media (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and Flickr).

To stay with the space theme we hired George Coghill, an alien cartoon expert. He added so much personality to the aliens that are hanging out on the deck at Flips. My favorite is the alien behind the laptop. The music calendar is a product of Clubstr.com, a relatively new service that allows just one calendar update for the website, MySpace and soon it will be available for Facebook. It connects directly to the musicians MySpace page where you can click to hear a song in the calendar. Very nice! Once again, the “Code Hooligan” behind the scenes is programmer Paul Menard.

April 22, 2009Free Mother’s Day book download

FREE self care bookBeginning May 8th—for 48 hours only—you can download a free copy of the new, award-winning book (designed by yours truly), The Mother’s Guide to Self Renewal: How to Reclaim, Rejuvenate and Re-Balance Your Life by Renée Trudeau, a nationally recognized career/life balance coach (a $20 value).

Featured extensively in national media and described as “The best book on balance,” by women’s health guru Dr. Joan Borysenko, author of Inner Peace for Busy Women, this book has helped thousands of women and can help you:

• reconnect with who you are and nurture yourself

• manage your energy and practice saying “no”

• tap into the Transformative Power of Self-Care

P.S. Wondering, why free?! This uplifting, beautifully illustrated/photographed book was born from Renee’s personal experience of creating/leading women’s self-renewal circles–called Personal Renewal Groups–for five years, after the birth of her son Jonah in 2002.  She is passionate about how transformative self-care can be for women and was moved to share this message with women around the world.  Want to learn more? You can read her blog, check out her recent newsletter or watch a video about the evolution of the book/groups.

April 16, 2009client profile: Adoption Coalition of Texas

I have had the pleasure of working with the Adoption Coalition of Texas and The Heart Gallery of Texas for the past 4 years. Last Friday night, April 3, 2009, The Adoption Coalition and Senator Steve Ogden hosted the Fire & Ice, a Hearts Finding Homes fundraiser. The event was beautifully set-up in the fire and ice theme, with a fun mix of spicy and mild foods and attended by a room full of people there for an amazing cause!

I worked closely with the Executive Director Tracy Eilers to design the invitation, tickets, sponsor boards, program and event banner. The evening included a touching video presentation created by Amy Hadley that showed a compilation of News8 coverage and interviews with children looking for their forever families. This organization is staffed with compassionate people that truly care for foster children and their families and it is an honor to work with them.

March 8, 2009Purpose and RISE Austin 2009

“Where your talents and the needs of the world cross lies your calling.” –Aristotle

I heard this inspiring quote last Monday night at the keynote address for the RISE Austin 2009 kick off. Roy Spence, CEO, GSD&M Idea City and author of “It’s Not What You Sell – It’s What You Stand For” talked about finding or creating purpose through your work. I enjoyed the entrepreneur pep talk and much-needed enthusiasm of the evening. Many of my clients are passionate entrepreneurs with a purpose and a drive to do great things through their businesses. They are thinking big and dreaming bigger.

I only made it to one of the workshops, “Spa for the Soul”- Entrepreneurial Survival skills for 2009″ hosted by Kathleen Grandfield and Christina Carlin. Before the workshop began, we were invited to taste one of Kathleen’s most amazing chocolates, then close our eyes and listen to Kathleen and Christina play harps. Wow! Then,  The Naked Accountant got up and gave an inspirational talk about money, finances and life. She generously handed out a few of her books “The Naked Accountant asks Who’s Standing On Your Financial Hose?” with a $2 money magnet inside. It’s a wonderful read, by the way. To top off the workshop, this beautiful woman got up and sang to us about hope and strength. I was actually moved to tears. I didn’t catch her name, but when I find out I’ll be sure to post about her.

On Thursday night, my (ever-the-entrepreneur/inventor) husband and I went to hear John Mackey, CEO, Whole Foods give the closing speech on Conscious Capitalism. He the co-author of “Be the Solution: How Entrepreneurs and Conscious Capitalists Can Solve All the World’s Problems.” His speech was good food for thought, may have to save that for another post all together.

I’m still amazed that it was completely free! Thank you thank you thank you to the founders of Rise Austin, all the volunteers, presenters and sponsors. I will definitely attend again next year.
